Burkert Type 8626 mass flow controllers (MFCs) are compact devices that control the mass flow of gases. They ensure the specified flow rate regardless of obstacles, including pressure drops or temporary flow resistance. The flow controller consists of a flow meter, an electronic module, and a proportional valve. The built-in sensors operate in CTA mode (constant temperature anemometers). In this case, the electrical thermal resistance and measuring resistance are adjusted to a constant temperature difference. One resistance is located directly in the gas flow, and three resistances are outside it. All resistors are connected in an electrical bridge. The first resistance in the fluid flow measures the fluid temperature. The second, low-resistance, is continuously heated to maintain a precisely specified excess temperature relative to the liquid temperature. Thanks to the fact that the resistors are located directly in the channel, the device has excellent dynamics: the response time when changing the set or actual value is hundredths of a millisecond. In addition, the sensor is virtually contamination-free.
