Burkert Type 8626 mass flow meters (MFC) are compact devices that monitor the mass flow of gases. They control the set flow rate despite disturbances such as pressure drops or temporary flow resistance. The flow regulator consists of a flow meter, an electronic module, and a proportional valve. The built-in sensors operate in CTA mode (constant temperature anemometers). In this case, the electrical resistance of the heater and the measuring resistance are set to a constant temperature difference. Both resistors are located directly in the gas flow; three more resistors are located outside. All resistors are connected in an electrical bridge. The first resistor measures the temperature of the liquid. The second, low-resistance resistor is constantly heated to maintain a precisely set temperature that exceeds the temperature of the liquid. Thanks to the fact that the resistors are located directly in the channel, the devices have excellent dynamics: the response time when changing the set or actual value is hundredths of a millisecond. In addition, the sensor is virtually contamination-free.
